Jasper Orange Juice just sent me this video of Evan van der Spuy of Team Jeep South Africa got taken out by a RED HARTEBEES at a mountain bike race at Albert Falls Dam. Holy shit.

This is why you wear a helm in the (urban) jungle! Glad he is alright, that could have ended a lot worse..

CYCLE | RECYCLE AT BIKEMOTION

Wednesday, October 5 2011 at 11:38 am by:

This month Pristine will run a workshop at the BikeMOTION in Utrecht. We will show and explain the expected 30.000 visitors – well, most of them – how to build your own fixed gear or single speed. We hope to see you all there, it’s gonna be fun – so if you have time to come out to Utrecht make sure you do!

The event is named cycle|recycle since we will transform worn out racing bicycles into speedy and slick messenger bikes. For this we plundered Marktplaats and run into some really nice vintage Giant’s, Gazelle’s and Koga’s…

cycle|recycle also shows

  • the nicest ready mades: brand new bicycles of the hottest brands
  • all thinkable paraphernalia and accessories
  • breathtaking video’s –in full HD- in the lounge corner
  • the art of ‘spoke twining’
  • and more…

Note: Our charming ´fashionistas´, dressed up in vintage cycling shirts, will perform a fair but strict door policy: you have to love cycling in its purest way.

BikeMOTION, Jaarbeurs Utrecht, Friday 14th October – Sunday 16th October 2011.

cycle|recycle is organized by journalist Robert B.P. van Weperen with the help of many many volunteers and sponsors like Brick Lane Bikes, Amazing Wheels, Cosmic Sports, Fuji, Schwalbe, KMC chains.

Martijn’s dad Peter Zijerveld is the talent coach for the KNWU. And being the awesome guy that he is, he got us a Rabobank jersey signed by the entire professional Dutch track selection.

We’ll make sure to give this a nice place in our shop. Thanx guys, we love it!

Just saw these pictures of Gypsy (who works at Gear Brisbane) over on one of my favourite blogs Pedal Consumption, taken by the talented Matt Lingo.

If you want to see the full set, head over to his blog RecFail. They are well worth checking out, plus Gypsy’s new bike is pretty sick.

TALKING ABOUT RESIST PARTS…

…do any of you watch the series Weeds? Me and Santina watched all the seasons and recently Andy opened up a bikeshop in New York.. where besides the Copenhagen Wheel, he sells complete Volume Cutter V6 bikes with Resist parts. Haha.

“One of the producers asked LA Brakeless about a bike company that would be willing to help out and they thought of us.  Since we are huge fans, how could we refuse.  Can’t wait to see what else comes of Andy’s bike project.  We all thought the bike would be in the background or somethin’ and not a main focus point.  Very cool!”
