The Footdown posted a nice article about the MASH SF Video and the cool and uncool things happening in the fixed gear scene. I especially like his quote “When something ’street/urban/sweet/killer’ is gobbled up by the mainstream, it becomes totally lame then gets spat out and in time may or may not become rad again.”
Read the full article here. I guess we need to start screening the MASH movie again to educate the ‘main stream’.
It seems it’s crash week!
We build a few wheels every week. A lot of people ask if it’s a difficult thing, well yes and no. Like with everything you need some experience and the more you do it, the better you get. A guy or girl building wheels for 20 years is a good wheel builder. It’s all about training to perfection. Here is a nice video of how it’s done without all the technical instruments, measurement equipment etc.
From calculating spoke length, to cutting, to lacing, to truing – a detailed look at what goes in to building a wheel for your fixed gear bike.

Our good friend Martijn from Imagehunters and The Bear Cult took some great pictures of Rudy Melo and David Hall while they were in Brighton. Martijn used to live in The Netherlands but jumped the lake with his girlfriend to check out the UK. They are living in Brighton and hooked up with Rudy and David while they visited Brighton. Here are some more pictures of that day. Great work Marty!
