ETHAN SUPLEE FOR RAPHA

Thursday, June 30 2011 at 1:53 pm by:

Our friend Frank just got an internship in London with Rapha (congratulations!) so I was browsing their website when I came across one of my favorite actors. You may know Ethan Suplee from his work on the big screen, starring in movies by Kevin Smith such as Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Clerks 2 but also blockbusters like American History XRemember the TitansBlow, or even more recently the hit television show, My Name is Earl. Rapha rode with Ethan in November and when the Downsize Offer was launched we decided it was time to talk to him about losing weight and his connection to the bicycle.

PETER POST / RIH

Saturday, June 25 2011 at 5:54 pm by:

Classical steel frame from the 1970s. This one was built in the late 1960s for Dutch champion and later team leader Peter Post. Collection RIH-Sport Amsterdam.

Peter Post was a professional cyclist from 1956 until 1972. He mainly cycled on the track, where he won 65 times in the six-day races. This was a record for a long time. Post was not bad on the road either, as his victory in Paris-Roubaix in 1964 proves.

In 1956 he joined the RIH Sport team. He sadly passed away this year, his bike now hangs at RIH Amsterdam at Westerstraat.

We’re sorry to inform you that the Pristine Lunchroom is closing. We enjoyed doing this but in the end it just cost us too much time & money to keep it going. We will expand the bike shop and create a hang out upstairs for our friends with coffee and drinks, so please keep on dropping by. Thanks everyone for their support. Hope to see you soon!

STOKED ON FIXED BIKES, ISSUE 3

Tuesday, May 31 2011 at 9:29 pm by:

Mr Greg Falski is currently in Paris as the official photographer for Gumball 3000 but he’s still managed to get out his latest issue of Stoked on Fixed Bikes.

Greg does such a good job with this magazine – his photos are always top quality and show all the elements of fixed gear riding. In this issue, there’s some great photos of Rudy down at Herne Hill Velodrome, the Ninja Cats Trick Jam, 2morrows Victory plus loads more.

Grab a coffee and flick through Issue 3 here

And be sure to check out his Gumball 3000 coverage. Incredible.

BROTHERS CYCLES NEW FRAME

Tuesday, May 31 2011 at 9:04 pm by:

From the Brothers Cycles Website: The New Brother Cycles Frame

So it’s been a while since we first announced we’d be releasing our second frame and we had hoped it would be available by now but as is usually the case these things take longer than expected. However we’re happy to say that after endless adjustments, sample frames, test riding and paint finishes we finally have the end product – and we couldn’t be happier with it.

Our aim was to create a true track frame, a frame which can be thrashed around the city but is equally at home racking up laps around the track. Angles are steeper, clearances tighter and we’ve used British Reynolds 631 steel to reduce the weight and improve the ride. Features include:

  • Reynolds 631 main tubes
  • Reynolds fork
  • 75 degree head angle
  • 32mm fork rake
  • 55mm bottom bracket drop
  • Tight clearances for 23c tyres
  • Long point lugs
  • Undrilled front and back

Thanks to everyone who has shown an interest in the frame so far, it will be available from the beginning of July with exact dates will be announced nearer the time. Initially we will be offering the frame in very limited numbers and in a light metallic silver with black decals. Price is yet to be confirmed but we expect SRP to be in the region of £475.

We’ll be taking pre-orders for this frame although stock is limited. Email us at: info@pristinefixedgear.com
